Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol was born Andrew Warhola in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1928. After his studies as a pictorial designer he moved to N.Y. In 1952, his first solo exhibition of drawings was held at Hugo Gallery, New York.

“During the 1960s, I think, people forgot what emotions were supposed to be. And I don't think they've ever remembered.”

The Andy Warhol Museum opened in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in May 1994.

“If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface of my paintings and films and me, and there I am. There's nothing behind it.”

This Colour offset lithograph (9” x 12” - 22.9 x 30.5 cm.) of an Andy Warhols "Watercolor set with brushes", was published to raise funds for the New York Association for the Blind (1982).
