Georges Collignon

Georges Collignon was born in Liège, Belgium, E.U., in 1923.
In 1937 he begins studying as a typographist and earns a degree in the book school of Liège.
During WW II he registers at the day classes of the Academy with Auguste Mambour as his teacher, then he starts as a figurative painter in 1943 but finally turns to abstraction after the war. He has a shortly influenced by Picasso. He becomes a member of the CoBra movement and receives, together with Alechinsky the "Prix Jeune Peinture Belge"
Georges Collignon was a member of the Royal Belgian Academy of Sciences, Letters and Visual Arts.
He died at home in February 2002.
